Conquering Cuisine

Conquering Cuisine means understanding all aspects of food. For over 10 years, Denis has been the principal instructor at Carlow Cookery, a gourmet kitchenware shop and cooking studio. In that time, he conducted an extensive selection of cooking classes, bringing the culinary world to participants by showcasing the ingredients, recipes and techniques needed to make a wide variety of dishes. Now, he has moved to a brand new, state-of-the art studio dedicated to cooking classes and gourmet catering. Conquering Cuisine offers demonstration classes, hands-on classes, wine tasting and pairing, and kids cooking classes. Conquering Cuisine also offers fun and delicious trips to iconic food destinations. Each of our trips begins with a complimentary continental breakfast and includes luxury coach transportation and guide from the shop to help you navigate and maximize your trip. The bus will take you from spot to spot and you will be given an itinerary providing information about each location. It is a fun and relaxing way to eat, drink and shop with other foodies!

With the world's most extensive vineyards and one of the oldest winemaking traditions, Spain has plenty to offer wine lovers.We'll demonstrate the range of Spanish wines by tasting the bright cavas of the Penedes (new world) and the full bodied, oaky reds of the Rioja (old world).

But Spain is not just about wine, it is now playing just as an important role in the advancement of modern cuisine. This class features a pairing of some terrific Spanish wines with contemporary fare from across the country.

About the Class: Our wine pairing classes provide participants with a better understanding of how particular wines can enhance the flavors in different foods. In addition to tasting the selected pairings, the group will see how each of the dishes is prepared. As with our wine tastings, we'll cover the region and producer of each wine. Join us for a great day shopping and eating in New York City. This exciting gourmet markets tour fuses three exciting neighborhoods into one great day of food. Our day begins at 7:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast at Conquering Cuisine. We'll leave promptly at 8 a.m. in a comfortable Hagey coach for our first stop, the Upper West Side, a food lover's mecca. You'll be able to browse the aisles of Citatrella, Fairway, and Zabars. They are all chock full of the best seafood and beef, cheese from Show More...around the world, prepared foods, and almost every condiment you can think of. It's then off to the fabulous Chelsea Market, a square block of foodie heaven and home to dozens of vendors including Amy's Bread, The Manhattan Fruit Exchange, Sarabeth's Kitchen (Award-winning Jam Maker), Ronnybrook Farm Dairy, Buon Italia Imported Italian Food, and the Wine Vault. Last but not least we make our way over to Little Italy to enjoy the 81st Annual Feast of San Gennaro, New York City's oldest, biggest and most famous religious street festival. Presented annually, this year's Feast will again attract more than 1-million people to the streets of historic Little Italy in the annual salute to the Patron Saint of Naples San Gennaro. Join us for a great food shopping trip to New York City. The day begins at 7:30 a.m with a continental breakfast at Conquering Cuisine. We'll leave promptly at 8 a.m. in a comfortable Hagey coach for what many now consider to be New York's real Little Italy, Arthur Avenue. It has been the commercial center for one of the largest Italian communities in the country and is as vibrant as ever, home to authentic delis, bakeries, specialty market and fish stores. There you'll be treated to a fantastic Show More...array of fresh pasta, aged cheeses, cured olives and crispy cannolis. There's also a seemingly endless number of neat cafes and restaurants on the avenue that use these great ingredients in incredible dishes. From there we head to Manhattan and Eataly, unique market in Manhattan's Flat Iron district that is based on a store in Italy of the same name. The sprawling market sells hard-to-find versions of pasta, cheese, meat, salami, game and produce as well as an astonishing collection of Italian wines.
